The Telecaster family went through an expansion in 1972 with the introduction of the Telecaster Deluxe, and a new version of the Telecaster Custom. The original Telecaster Customs were stock versions of the Telecaster that added double-binding along the body edges and first appeared in 1959. In an effort to compete with other famous electrics that feature humbucking pickups, Fender introduced their own version of the humbucker resulting in the Wide Range humbucker, designed by Seth Lover. The Wide Range Humbucker produces a bright, unique sound with power to spare.
