Intro to Hand Drumming (Beginner)
Have you ever strolled past a hand drum circle in the park and thought, "I’d like to try that!" Then this class is for you! MSM Instructor Nathan Matson has been faciliating hand drum circles in the Bellingham Community for over ten years. Here, he presents the skills essential for proper hand drumming technique.
As a group, you will explore West African, Afro-Cuban and Middle Eastern rhythms. Over time, students develop the skills necessary to play in a group setting. This class is for the absolute beginning student, and a great place to get started playing hand drums. Students graduate to the Community Drum Circles held monthly at MSM. Students should provide their own djembe or conga.
When: First Saturday of each month from 11:30 - 12:30
Rate: $10.00 per session
Drum Circles (Intermediate, Advanced)
Come and explore rhythms from around the world, and see why so many people are drawn to hand drumming! Join MSM instructor Nathan Matson in a community drum circle for intermediate to advanced players.

Whether your interests lie in the simple enjoyment of drumming, the therapeutic benefits of the art, or a passion for world rhythms, you won’t want to miss a session! Participation in "An Intro to Hand Drumming" or prior hand drum lessons are a pre-requisite for participation. Members of the Drum Circles have the oppoturnity to perform their work throughout the year at the MSM Student Performances. Students should provide their own djembe or conga.
