Trumpet:
There are many distinct types of trumpet, with the most common being pitched in B♭. A cup mouthpiece is used, with varying combinations of the three keys determining the note played. Modern trumpets generally have three valves in order to change their pitch. Most trumpets have valves like pistons, while rotary-valved trumpets are more common in orchestras.

Trombone:
Unlike many of the other recognizable brass instruments, the trombone does not use keys to change pitch. Trombones use a long slide, moved up and down, to produce different notes and pitches. A counterweight on the back of the instrument keeps it balanced while the player moves the slide through different positions to play the correct notes. While there are valve trombones, they are uncommon and not recommended for students.

Euphonium comes from the Greek word euphōnos, translating loosely to "sweet sounding". A member of the brass family, Euphoniums are a piston-valved and tenor-voiced instrument. Sheet music for Euphonium can be written in bass clef, or in treble clef for transposition. In British brass bands, it is typically treated as a treble-clef instrument, while in American band music, parts may be written in either treble or bass clef.

The baritone horn is a low-pitched piston-valve in the brass family. It is a piston-valve brass instrument with a bore that is mostly conical, but is narrower than the similarly pitched euphonium. It uses a wide-rimmed cup mouthpiece similar to trombone, and can be considered either a transposing or non-transposing instrument. A baritone can also play music written for a trombone due to similar pitches and are one octave below the trumpet.

French Horn (Single):
The French Horn is a brass instrument made of more than 20 feet of tubing! Pitch is controlled through the adjustment of lip tension in the mouthpiece and the operation of three lever operated rotary valves by the left hand, which route the air into extra tubing. The backward-facing orientation of the bell creates a subdued sound in concert situations, in contrast to the more piercing quality of the trumpet.
